My name is Alexandra Thomas and I have been teaching fitness classes since 2004 shortly after having my first child. I chose to become a fitness instructor as it combined my love of exercise and it was a job that slotted in nicely with the needs of my growing family.
Prior to 2016 I was mostly freelance teaching in local gyms a variety of classes such as Zumba, Bollywood Dancing, Spin, aerobics, Body conditioning and Pilates. However I was drawn more and more to Pilates and its amazing benefits for everyone. Teaching 15 cardio classes a week took its toll on my body and I felt my vocation was helping people improve their bodies through Pilates.
In September 2016 I took the decision to go it alone and teach my own community based classes. I hired local halls and concentrated purely on teaching Pilates. I found this was completely the right fit for me but was frustrated with the logistics of teaching in these types of locations. My focus now was to find a studio of my own. I was fortunate to find a space at Woodend Mill. Peak Pilates opened its doors on 20th March 2017.
My studio has been designed purely for Pilates. I have chosen decor which creates and calm, relaxing environment. I have a store room which houses a large variety of equipment to keep the classes fit for purpose, challenging and interesting. I also have a reception area where you are welcome to stay, grab a coffee and have a chat with a friend.
All my classes are Pilates based. Despite doing my first Pilates qualification back in 2004, I have continued to gain further qualifications such as in Level 3 Pilates, Trigger Point Pilates, Barre Pilates, Level 3 Pre and Post Natal, plus ongoing CPD. (please see my list of qualifications here).
My focus in my classes is always to help people and address their particular issues whether it be a tight back from sitting at a desk all day, a long term condition such as arthritis, osteoporosis, spondylitis or the fact that there bodies are tight from hitting the gym regularly. My classes are for everyone, all abilities, taught in a friendly and informal atmosphere. so what you waiting for come and join me!
